Key Admissions FAQ

Question 1: How did you calculate tuition?

We did financial analysis since our founding to calculate how much it costs to educate a child. It comes out to be $10,125.51 per year (or $225 per month for 10 months). At Vita, we are committed to ensuring every learner has access to a high-quality, personalized education—regardless of financial background.

When we started Vita, we relied on government funding through our charter partnership and ESA tuition, which capped funding at approximately $7,000 per student—a fraction of what top-tier education requires. For comparison, public schools in Washington, D.C. receive around $25,000 per student.

With only $7,000 per student, it was challenging to:

✅ Provide cutting-edge technology to enhance learning.

✅ Offer a world-class curriculum and project-based learning experiences.

✅ Recruit and retain top-tier educators who inspire and mentor students.

✅ Maintain financial stability and growth to ensure a sustainable future for Vita.

Additionally, families can fundraise for tuition and secure their child’s spot sooner rather than waiting for scholarship availability. If you need assistance navigating STO, we are happy to guide you through the process!

Question 2: We’ve never tried Montessori before. Will my child adjust?

No problem! Our admissions team is experienced in helping new students transition smoothly, whether they’re coming from traditional schools, homeschooling, or other alternative education models.

We provide personalized onboarding and mentorship to help learners feel comfortable and thrive in Vita’s unique, student-driven environment.

Question 3: Do students have to take an entrance exam to get in?

We do not require formal entrance exams. Instead, we evaluate students based on:
✔️ A one-on-one interview to ensure a great personal and educational fit
✔️ A review of prior academic records and standardized test scores (if applicable)
✔️ A discussion about the student’s goals, learning style, and interests

We believe every student is more than just a test score, and our admissions process reflects that.

Question 4: Is Vita accredited? Will my child be prepared for college?

Vita is in the process of becoming accredited while already using an accredited curriculum to ensure that students are fully prepared for college and career pathways.

Colleges today place a strong emphasis on college entrance exams, student portfolios, and real-world experience, all of which Vita actively helps students build.

Question 5: What if my family can’t afford the tuition?

We are committed to making Vita accessible to all families, regardless of financial circumstances.

💰 Tuition assistance options include:
1. STO Scholarships – Families can leverage Arizona’s tax credit program to cover most, if not all, of tuition.
2. Need-Based Financial Aid – We offer additional support for families who qualify.
3. Merit-Based Scholarships – Recognizing students who excel in academics, leadership, and innovation.
4. Fundraising Support – We guide families in raising funds through STO and community partnerships.

Don’t let tuition be a barrier—we are here to help you navigate funding options!

Question 6: What documents do I need to enroll my child?

To enroll your child at Vita, please provide:
📌 Birth Certificate
📌 Immunization Records (or exemption form)
📌 Proof of Residency (Driver’s license, utility bill, lease agreement, etc.)

If you need assistance gathering documents, our admissions team is happy to help!

Question 7: What do students eat for lunch at Vita?

Yes! Vita provides a community-based meal experience where students:
- Cook together with certified staff using food provided by St. Mary’s Food Bank.
- Have access to microwaves, snacks, and cookable food in our stocked kitchen.
- Occasionally order food as a group.

There’s no set menu—it feels a lot like home! To ensure a smooth transition, we recommend bringing food from home during the first few days.

Question 8: Does Vita offer transportation or help with rides?

While Vita does not currently have school-owned transportation, we have a successful carpool network that connects families. Vita also provides free student public transportation cards on a need base for use of the Phoenix Metro bussing system.

🚗 Need help finding a ride?
Contact us, and we’ll assist you in connecting with other families for carpooling options.
